Coloured Ponds - Pond 4 onThursday 18th February 2010

I started off fishing with maggots and casters on the pole. I soon began to catch skimmer bream up to about 2lbs, then the carp moved in and dispite the very cold and wet conditions [there was even ice in the margins], the fish were feeding well in amongst the carp, roach, bream and tench I caught a very fat 1lb perch. This was just the sign I was looking for and I soon had a light bomb rod set up. I always carry lob worms with me and so I fished a whole air injected lob, which I popped up about 3 inches with a Fox pop-up weight.
For the rest of the session I had a series of good perch with the best three weighing in at 1 lb 12 oz, 2 lb 7 oz and 2 lb 12 oz. I also had carp on the worm too.
So even in very poor weather conditions I had a fantastic days sport and I can't wait to get back.
